Looking for a Spring Home Improvement Project? Now is that time of year when the flowers start to bloom, the baby birds begin to hatch and we start thinking about new beginnings of our own, particularly when it comes to our homes.
If you’re looking to do a little home improvement this springtime, but aren’t exactly sure what you want to do, here are some ideas for you to consider:
Make a Start on that Much-Needed DIY Jobs
Whether it’s a drywall repair, a leaking faucet that needs some attention, or a wooden floor that needs to be polished, why not take some time out this spring to catch up on all of those little DIY jobs around the house that you always talk about doing, but never actually get round to? You’ll feel so much better once they’re sorted.
Install a Deck in the Garden
Pretty soon, you’re going to want to spend more time in the garden, so why not buy some wood and build a deck? It’s easier than you might think if you follow the right instructions, it’ll keep you busy, and once you’re done you’ll have a fabulous place to sit out in the sun, watch the birds and bees fly by, and cook up a storm on the barbecue. Bliss.
Check Your Air Conditioner
Before the weather gets hot, you’re going to want to check that your air conditioning unit is functioning as it should. By inspecting it now, or having a professional inspect it for you, you can ensure that when you need it, you won’t be waiting around for the repairman getting sweaty! Plan and you’ll have a great summer.
Paint the Exterior
In spring, when the weather starts to get better, it’s the perfect time to get outside and paint your house. This is an especially good project if your home hasn’t been painted in a while and it’s starting to look a bit dirty. It’s amazing how transformative a fresh lick of paint can be to your home and its curb appeal.
There are lots of beautiful, fragrant flowers that are best planted in the spring, so why not get out and get your hands dirty? Instead, of just planting in the borders, try to come up with some interesting planting patterns, and don’t forget to deal with the weeds!
Polish the Floors
If you have stone or hardwood floors, sanding and/or polishing them is a great way to refresh them and give them a new lease of life for the spring. It’s easier to do than a lot of people realize, and you can usually hire the equipment you need from DIY stores, so you don’t have to worry about buying a lot of gear.
Switch Out the Soft Furnishings
Looking for something really simple? Pack away all of the heavy cushions, pillows, throws, and curtains and replace them with lighter, fresher spring versions in bright spring colors for the simplest spring home transformation ever.
Enjoy your home this spring!
