With the winter season on the way, then the dark nights, dull weather, and dark mornings, can all be a little depressing, leaving you feeling dull too. And as fun as the holiday season is, there is still a lot to do and it can be overwhelming and a really busy time of year. So it can be quite natural to feel a bit low about this kind of thing, and looking for some small things to do to help you to cheer up a little can be great. A quick mood booster at this time of the year is a must! So here are some of the things that you could look into, if you feel like you need to give yourself a boost this season.

Break from the old routine

 

If you want to refresh yourself, then refreshing your routine is something that is a really good idea. You could mix up your morning commute, for example, and take a new form of transport, or take a different route on the way. Even doing the small things like noticing more what is around you is important, and it can also help to give your brain a little bit of a change and a break from the normal routine. You never know, you could discover something fun. 

 

Nail it

 

If you want a quick fix to give yourself a boost, then a girl knows how much a quick file and polish can make a difference. A small thing but you can feel ready for anything. Having a full manicure and pedicure is something that can be such a treat, but it isn’t going to be something that can happen all of the time. So you could just do it yourself. Think wisely about the colors that you choose, as they can impact how you feel. Colors like red can be something that boosts the brain, and can help with alertness. Shades of blue can be more calming, so think about what could work for you. 

 

You are what you eat

 

We all know that the things that we eat do have an impact on how we feel. But these kinds of things don’t have to mean that all you can have is celery juice and greens. There are things like dark chocolate that have been used to help to reduce stress and help to even out cortisol levels. So even something like that can help you to beat a sleepy slump. Try to avoid too many processed and sugary products.

It might sound like something that is counter intuitive to giving yourself a boost and making yourself feel better, but going to the dentist can be a good thing to do. You can have a check-up to deal with anything that is coming up, but you could also look into things like dental implants if you want to give your smile an update and a boost. So don’t put the dentist off, and make sure that you are up for a trip to the dentist as this time of year.

 

Blow it out

 

If someone else is washing your hair, then it can be such a luxury. A practical thing of getting your hair washed, but it is something with a high level of luxury and self-care. It can be an amazing feeling that gives you the ‘just left the salon’ feel. And the results can leave you feeling fresh until the next hair wash, saving you some time (at least for a couple of days).

 

Laughter is the best medicine

 

Laughter is something that helps to activate some happy feelings within ourselves, and would you believe that faking laughter does the same thing too? It means that you don’t have to watch your favourite comedy or laughing at inside jokes with your best friends. Although that is great, some fake laughter can also help to give some of the same positive effects. So this is something that we can all give a go. Make yourself laugh, be a little silly, and then it can make a big difference.

Doing plenty of things for other people can be a really simple way to make you feel good. It distracts you from what you are doing, as well as putting your issues and problems into perspective a little. It could be something as small as paying a compliment to a stranger, giving some money to charity, or donating clothing and shoes to goodwill. It can help you to be happy, when you’re doing something nice for someone else.
